Board of Directors Positions - 2025

The EOBA wants you!!!


Below is an overview of the Board Of Director positions you can apply for in January 2025.

On the 5th of February 2025 , at the Annual General Meeting - Voting will take place.


1. EOBA President. The President is the principal officer responsible for overseeing the operations and functioning of the Eastern Ontario Beekeeping Association (EOBA). The President chairs Board meetings and membership meetings, represents the association to external stakeholders, and ensures the fulfillment of the organization's mission and vision. The President ensures effective communication among Board members and coordinates the work of the Board, committees, and volunteers.

EXPECTATION – 2/3 hours of work weekly – attends all meetings and events.

GOAL – Ensure the EOBA obtains Not For Profit status in 2025. Monitor all the measures/activities across the BoD to achieve this goal.

2. EOBA Vice-President. The Vice-President supports the President and assumes their responsibilities in the President's absence. The Vice-President plays an active role in policy development, governance, mission, and vision. Additionally, they assist with membership engagement and organizational growth, acting as a key liaison between the Board and members. The VP creates cohesion and adds to the horsepower of the team.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends most meetings and events.

GOAL – Produce/revamp/reorganize/update Charter/SOP/Mission/Vision in 2025.

3. Secretary. The Secretary maintains accurate records of Board meetings, decisions, and actions. This role includes managing correspondence, ensuring compliance with NFP rules, and keeping all meeting records. The Secretary ensures proper documentation and communication of Board proceedings to all relevant parties (internal and external).

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends all meetings and events. Record meeting minutes and distribute them to the BoD.

GOAL – Create the standard operating procedure for taking minutes and design a system to keep all the minutes for publishing minutes to the EOBA membership in 2025.

4. Director of Membership. The Director of Membership leads the recruitment and retention of EOBA members. This role includes developing and implementing strategies to engage current and potential members, managing membership databases, and ensuring that members receive timely communication and benefits. The Director works closely with all Board members specifically, as well as the Director of Communications and the Director of Content, to develop member-related policies and programs.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends all meetings and events. Record meeting minutes and distribute them to the BoD.

GOAL – Use Wix to capture data about EOBA membership in 2025. Implement the Lifetime membership program.

5. Director of Communication. The Director of Communication is responsible for the association's public relations and communication strategies. This role involves developing and distributing updates, emails, and announcements and ensuring the private/public communication of the EOBA aligns with its mission. The director also promotes educational and outreach initiatives.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends most meetings and events. Record meeting minutes and distribute them to the BoD.

GOAL – Create the standard operating procedure on taking minutes and design a system to keep all the minutes for publishing minutes to the EOBA membership in 2025.

6. Director of Finance. The Director of Finance manages the association's financial health, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and fund management. This position ensures compliance with financial regulations of a Not-for-profit organization, manages funding sources, and provides financial reports to the Board of Directors. The Finance Director plays a key role in ensuring transparency and accountability.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends all meetings and events. Record meeting minutes and distribute them to the BoD.

GOAL – Create the standard operating procedure on taking minutes and design a system to keep all the minutes for publishing them to the membership in 2025.

7. Director of Events. The Event Director coordinates and manages EOBA's events, such as workshops, Summer Field Day, Bee Talk meetings, General Meetings, Annual General Meetings, and community outreach. This includes event planning, logistics, budgeting, and volunteer coordination. The Event Director ensures events and their associated activities align with the organization’s mission and create value for members and the broader community.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends most meetings and all events.

GOAL – Create two new EOBA events (Bee Olympics, Social Events, Field Day, Bees and Brews, Bee Picnic, Pollinators Parade, etc.…). Create a balance between the public, fundraising, ideal location, and the EOBA membership.

8. Director of Content. The Director of Content coordinates and manages the information the EOBA chooses to distribute to its members, including updates, news articles, research, reviewing opportunities and events, and making sure accurate information is provided to the community. The Director of Content ensures all pertinent information and activities align with the organization’s mission and create value for members and the broader community.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends most meetings and events.

GOAL – Challenge the EOBA to explore options for education, enlightenment, research, and experiences that embrace and support the diverse EOBA membership.

9. Director of Social Media. The Social Media Manager coordinates and manages the EOBA's image on digital and online platforms—this may include Facebook, Instagram, X, etc. The manager also advises the BoD on trends, moderates the FB account, and addresses any concerns about the EOBA's online presence. The Social Media Manager ensures that all pertinent information and activities align with the organization’s mission and create value for members and the broader community.

EXPECTATION – 2 hours of work weekly – attends most meetings and events.

GOAL – Create and moderate the FB, Instagram, and other digital accounts on social media for the EOBA. 

 

Each Board member is expected to adhere to the highest standards of governance, communication, and ethics in fulfilling their responsibilities.
